The Solidarity Committee of Central New York is organizing a carpool to visit and support the striking workers at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Power Station. About 460 workers from IBEW 97 have been on strike since July 9. They are maintaining a picket line 24 hours a day, and have welcomed visits from a variety of supporters. The nuclear power plant has continued operating, with managers working 12 hour shifts — raising serious safety concerns.
Come take a stand for the striking workers and help ensure the safety of our community!
Our carpool will leave at 1:30pm on Sunday, July 24, from the Syracuse Social Justice Center parking lot, 2013 East Genessee Street. Please contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are interested or if you have questions.
